Devenish and Agrolabo Agree to Co-operate in Italy
29 October 2009
Devenish and Agrolabo of Italy have agreed a partnership which will see the companies providing nutritional products and environmentally friendly nutrition to Italian pig farmers. Devenish has developed systems and nutritional products that allow Agrolabo to address the clampdown on emissions from farms, problems such as ammonia and phosphorous, Devenish’s products also promote optimal performance.
“We can lower the emissions from an average farm by 5-10% using novel technology/models and products such as NatuPro and DeviGuard” says Aidan O’Toole, senior nutritionist at Devenish Nutrition. “By walking the farm and training technicians we can often uncover problems with feeding programs, on farm, that have never surfaced previously.” Aidan adds.
Agrolabo is a leading company in the field of livestock and companion animal health and nutrition. Since its founding, Agrolabo has been dedicated to manufacturing and marketing innovative nutritional solutions designed at improving animal wellbeing, while increasing farm productivity and profitability.
In the late 1980’s the strong commitment to animal health led Agrolabo to expand into the veterinary diagnostics field. Today Agrolabo’s in-house and laboratory diagnostic tests are sold in countries throughout the world. Keen to pursue its dedication to advancing animal performance efficiency and improving its services to Italian farmers, Agrolabo is currently working to improve the efficiency of nutrient utilisation in Italian finishing swine.
“The Italian industry for finishing swine is a unique and highly regulated industry that pushes the live weight of swine to 170kg.” comments Paolo Poletti, Managing Director at Agrolabo. “Concurrently with the increasing intensity of Italian swine production units, public concern regarding environmental pollution is rising and local authorities are strengthening restrictions. Consequently, the need for careful nutrient and manure management is increasing urgent to avoid the forced closure of swine units” continued Paolo.
By co-operating in this way we are looking for synergies in our companies and hope to improve our businesses and competitiveness both ways.
