Pig Projects

Pig research at Devenish Nutrition is carried out at three different levels:

1. Scientific and On-Farm Research

Devenish Nutrition has its own research facility, which is used to evaluate diets for young pigs.  This research, carried out on a practical level on Irish farms, has a direct application to our own product development.

In addition, Devenish Nutrition collaborate in research with the following institutions:

    • Veterinary Science Division/Queen's University Belfast - PMWS
    • University College Dublin - Environmental Research
    • Agricultural Research Institute of Northern Ireland - Pig Performance
    • Moorepark - Raw Material Evaluation
    • University of Newcastle - Creep Trials, Texture of Diet Trials
    • University Minnesota - NatuProŽ Performance Trial Work
    • Department of Agriculture and Rural Affairs/QUB - Development of test for Protein Quality

All scientific research is developed further on farms allowing theory to be put into practice before products or processes are made commercially available.

2. Literature Review

Part of research is keeping up to date with research across the world.  This is achieved by reviewing papers published in scientific journals on a regular basis.

3. Publications

Devenish Nutrition aim to publish in scientific journals (peer reviewed) in addition to technology transfer articles.
