2nd Line Support Analyst

Devenish is a fast growing, innovative, international agri-food technology business. Headquartered in Belfast, Devenish has five manufacturing sites in the UK (Belfast, Killamarsh, Widnes, Boroughbridge and Thirsk). We also have sites in United States and Mexico. From these sites we supply innovative environmental, animal and human health solutions to the farm, feed and food industry internationally.

The Role

The IT Service Desk is an integral part of the Devenish business and acts as the gateway for users to engage with the IT department. The work done within this team ensures that all staff at Devenish have what they need, working to the expected levels, in order to perform their roles and push the business to the next level. Reporting to the IT Servicedesk Manager, this is an excellent opportunity for a person with initiative who is looking for a new challenge that offers career and personal fulfilment. Key duties:

The successful candidate will be responsible for the following:

  • Second line IT Support
    • Manage personal ticket list
    • Keep end users up to date with progress of their tickets
    • Troubleshooting routine issues and escalate where appropriate
    • Software Installs
    • Hardware configuration and support
    • Assist when required to provide 1st line support
  • Admin Support
    • Creating and maintaining IT Support documentation
    • Provision of hardware & software and raising purchase orders
  • Manage project work
    • This could include self-driven projects or externally driven projects with IT elements. This may involve providing advice, scoping change requests, assessing current systems, deploying solutions, managing suppliers and managing projects end to end
  • Collaboration
    • Work alongside 1st and 3rd line support to provide effective solutions
  • Proactive Maintenance
    • You will be required to proactively monitor the infrastructure and applications, performing root analysis of any significant issues, recommending and supporting improvements

Essential Criteria:

  • 1 years' experience in a similar role
  • Excellent communication skills, written and oral
  • Work well with autonomy and as part of a team
  • Practical and logical approach to problem solving
  • Strong organisational and planning skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Good problem solving skills
  • Be capable and prepared to travel within the UK & Ireland
  • Be prepared to be part of an on-call rota
  • Perform under pressure

Desirable Criteria - previous experience in some of the following areas would be an advantage for applicants:

  • 3rd level education in a relevant field
  • Previous experience in a fast paced production driven organisation
  • Experience of supporting Citrix, Crystal Reporting, Database administration
  • Experience in the management of external third-party service providers
