Commercial Accountant

The Role

We are recruiting a Commercial Accountant within our Finance Team.

Key duties:

Reporting to the Group Financial Controller the person will be responsible for the following:

  • Business partnering with Commercial leads to make strategic decisions and reviewing commercial and operational assumptions
  • Support gross margin enhancement initiatives, efficiency and continuous improvement projects
  • Ad hoc commercial analysis and financial modelling to support the senior management team
  • Lead the preparation of monthly management accounts, including variance analysis
  • Professional development and coaching of other members of the finance team
  • Driving and implementing business and finance improvements
  • Co-ordination and compilation of company budgets and forecasts
  • Oversee compliance with tax regulations and liaise with company auditors
  • Provide support and finance deliverables to Group Finance team
  • Appreciate own position and contribution to wider organisation and understand those of other business functions in delivering the Group's strategic objectives.
  • Develop mutually beneficial working relationships, internally and externally
  • To carry out any other duties within reason and capability associated with this role

What we are looking for:

Essential Criteria:

  • Qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA)
  • At least 2 years industry experience in a senior commercial accounting or related role, preferably within a large, multisite, commercial organisation
  • Previous management experience

Key Skills:

  • Excellent inter-personal and communication skills and will have an ability to engage with people at all levels within an organisation
  • A proactive and hands-on approach
  • Ability to review and where necessary drive change in financial management information systems and reporting
  • Strong analytical skills, including the ability to provide commercially focused variance analysis and commentary
  • Strong organisational and planning skills, with the ability to prioritise effectively and work under pressure
  • Excellent problem-solving ability with good attention to detail
  • Proficiency in MS Office (advanced MS Excel skills would be highly beneficial)
  • Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team

Salary and Benefits:

  • Competitive remuneration and benefits package to attract the desired candidate
  • 37.5hr week, flexibility will be required
  • The role can be based in Belfast (with working from home as required under COVID-19 restrictions), occasional travel to other group sites may be required
