Communications Executive

We are seeking a highly driven Communications Executive to join our team. Based in Belfast, this role will have responsibility for a wide range of reporting, functional and strategic communications projects and tasks to facilitate a first-class communications service to our global organisation.

Key duties:

Working with the Communications Manager, the successful applicant will be responsible for the following:


  • To support the Communications Manager in the delivery of Devenish’s Communication Strategy including external and internal communications
  • Copywriting and editing content for a range of mediums and audiences 
  • Media relations including media engagement, producing media lists and briefings
  • Reporting: compiling a daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual media analysis on company coverage, as well as providing media coverage summaries for major campaigns
  • Assist with the planning and management of events and PR launches
  • Assist with managing sponsorship opportunities for all Devenish Group brands to ensure appropriate and valuable brand exposure, and return on investment
  • Planning and promotion of employee engagement activities, eg employee forums, events, intranet content generation, internal communications and marketing
  • Plan and deliver a wide range of internal communications activities that engage colleagues through multiple channels, including face-to-face and digitally delivered events
  • Working as part of a team to manage the company's digital presence including the creation of social media campaigns
  • Assisting with the production of marketing and communications collateral (eg messaging, infographics, videos, adverts etc)
  • Work in close partnership with Devenish’s external PR & communications consultants to support the Communications strategy, via strong media and stakeholder relationships within the Agri-food Industry, health and retail sectors and the wider business sectors
  • Any other reasonable duties as required

What we are looking for:

Essential Criteria:

  • Degree qualification (or equivalent) in Communications, Marketing, PR or related discipline
  • Minimum 2-3 years’ experience working in Public Relations / communications either as part of an in-house team or consultancy environment
  • Knowledge and experience of communications planning
  • Excellent writing, editing and proofreading skills as well as the journalistic ability to source stories from employees
  • Good interpersonal and relationship-building skills in order to work across multiple departments with all stakeholders
  • Digital skills: Familiarity with digital technology, especially digital and video means of communication, is essential
  • Media relations experience within the UK and Ireland
  • Hold a current full driving license which is valid for use in the UK and have access to a car

Desirable Criteria:

  • Relevant professional qualification or working towards one (CIPR or CIM)
  • Experience within a multisite or global organisation
  • Knowledge of the agri food industry within UK / Ireland and beyond
  • Media relations experience outside the UK and Ireland markets

Role details

  • 37.5hr week, flexibility will be required including occasional travel and events outside of working hours
  • The role is based in Belfast, travel will be required
