One Year Placement Student – Pig Team

Devenish is a leading provider of environmental, animal and human health solutions and a key influencer in driving health and sustainability throughout the food chain. Devenish has five manufacturing sites in the UK and four in the United States, from where they supply innovative nutritional solutions and technical expertise to producers through the farm, feed and food industry in UK, Ireland, Europe, Africa, Middle East, Australasia, Latin America and the USA.

We are offering the chance for a highly motivated student to join us on a one-year placement to work and learn from a highly successful and driven Pig Team.

The Role

This is an excellent opportunity for a person with initiative, who is looking for a challenge that offers a range of personal and career development opportunities and personal fulfilment. You will be given the opportunity to work with various members of our pig team, which will provide you with the opportunity to consider your area of preference and focus when you return to university.

Your placement will cover:

  • Research and reporting
  • Pig nutrition
  • Understanding Technical Sales within the Pig function

Key duties include:

  • Support in running and maintaining on farm trials
  • Compilation of trial protocols and results
  • Support sales teams in developing business with existing customers throughout the Island of Ireland and if required in GB
  • To learn and have an understanding of the requirements for a future career as a nutritionist in the Pig Sector

Essential Criteria:

  • Studying a relevant degree - Agriculture or bio science
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Good organisational and time management skills
  • Ability to work both unsupervised and as part of a team
  • Strong ICT skills
  • Full driving licence
  • Ability to travel throughout the UK and Ireland if required

Salary & Location:

£16,500 salary – full time for one year based in Belfast, but with some possible travel to other locations.
