Quality & Technical – One Year Placement Student

Devenish Nutrition is a leading provider of environmental, animal and human health solutions and a key influencer in driving health and sustainability throughout the food chain. Devenish has four manufacturing sites in the UK and four in the United States, from where they supply innovative nutritional solutions and technical expertise to producers through the farm, feed and food industry in the UK, Ireland, Europe, Africa, Middle East, Australasia, Latin America, and the USA.

The Role

We require a highly motivated placement student to work with our Quality, Technical, Customer Services and Despatch teams for One year. This will involve rotation between these departments gaining experience in the various areas across the business.

Key Tasks:

Formulations Department:

• Liaise with our team of nutritionists, production and customer services to ensure that the requirements of our customers are met
• Costing of premixes and updating formulations and labels to comply with current legislation
• Liaise with vets for prescriptions on a daily basis

Customer Services:

• Provide cover during our peak period
• Answering phones and processing orders on our computer system
• Dealing with customer queries, account managers and liaising with production

Despatch:

• Assist the despatch team to process the loading paperwork
• Liaise with the Forklift team and production to ensure all orders are complete
• Deal with delivery queries from the customer services team and account managers

Quality:

• Quality control cover for staff holidays
• Daily inspection and retention of samples
• Acceptance testing incoming Bulk materials
• NIR analysis of selected samples
• Retention of production/quality records
• Sampling and investigation of non-conforming production batches

Essential Criteria

• Excellent communication skills
• Good organisational and time management skills
• Ability to work both unsupervised and as part of a team
• Strong ICT skills
• Full driving licence
• Ability to travel throughout the UK and Ireland if required

Desirable Criteria:

Food safety or quality background/study would be preferred.

Salary & Location:

Competitive salary – full time for one year based in Belfast, but with some possible travel to other locations.
