Webinar: The production of Omega-3 chicken and the benefit to human health

Devenish have partnered with safefood to deliver a webinar on the production of Omega 3 chicken & the benefit to human health.

The hour-long webinar is on Thursday 26th April starting at 2.30pm.

This webinar will use our Omega Chicken case study as an example of how collaboration in the agri-food value chain across agriculture, food processors, retailers and public health bodies can work together to improve human health.

Dr Heather Hayes, Director of Food Innovation with Devenish, will discuss Omega-3 intakes and Devenish’s journey on the development of alternative food sources. Professor Alice Stanton, from the Royal College of Surgeons, will present the findings from our double blind clinical trial on the health benefits of eating Omega-3 enriched chicken and eggs.

This webinar aims to clearly demonstrate the link between improved animal nutrition, product quality & consumer health. The clinical trial demonstrated that regular consumption of omega-3 enriched chicken and eggs dramatically improved the omega-3 status of consumers and moved them from the high risk of cardiovascular disease to medium/low risk.

The success of this approach to improving human health, has been determined by our ability to communicate the health benefits to audiences at multiple levels. The health benefits must be easily understood by all consumers and displayed in an easily digestible format on the packaging. At a different level, the science behind the development musty be made available to more engaged consumers and also to health professionals.

The hour-long webinar is on Thursday 26th April starting at 2.30pm. To watch the webinar, please register before the event by clicking here and filling in your details.

The webinar is being hosted with Adobe Connect. You will need to download Adobe Connect prior to joining the webinar. A free trial is available by clicking here.
